Dexamenes, Kourouta

Overview

Once an abandoned 1920s wine factory, Dexamenes Seaside Hotel is now one of Greece's most striking design retreats, an architectural ode to minimalism and memory. Set directly on Kourouta Beach, its sleek concrete wine tanks have been transformed into refined industrial suites that blur the line between history and horizon. Here, raw materials meet poetic simplicity, creating a space that feels both deeply grounded and quietly transcendent.

Location

Dexamenes sits on the golden sands of Kourouta Beach, on the western Peloponnese coast near Amaliada. Its setting combines modern coastal tranquility with a strong sense of history. Surrounded by olive groves and endless sea views, it feels both secluded and connected, a place where industrial history meets the quiet rhythm of the Ionian shore.

The Journey from the UK

Fly direct into Kalamata (KLX) from London Heathrow, London Gatwick and many regional UK airports, with a flight time of around 3 hours and 45 minutes. From Kalamata Airport, it's a scenic 2 hour drive along the coast to Kourouta, or approximately 3 hours from Athens.

Suites/Villas

Dexamenes features 34 suites, each housed with converted wine tanks that honour the site's industrial past. Polished concrete, reclaimed timber and glass create a refined, tactile calm, complemented by bespoke lighting and soft linen textures. Every suite opens directly onto a private terrace, with views of the Ionian Sea or the hotel's courtyard. Bathrooms feature rainfall showers and Apivita amenities, while amenities include Marshall speakers, Nespresso machines, and curated minibars. Suites sleep up to three guests and select configurations connect for families or groups.
