Kinsterna Hotel, Monemavasia

Overview

Set on a hillside estate overlooking the Aegean, Kinsterna Hotel is a lovingly restored Byzantine mansion that brings centuries of history into a modern, elegant retreat. Once a noble residence surrounded by fertile farmland, it has been meticulously revived with stone courtyards, flowing fountains and vine draped terraces that echo the rhythms of another age. Moments from the medieval fortress town of Monemvasia, the hotel pairs heritage with contemporary refinement, where hand-hewn stone meets soft linens, and timeless tranquillity meets discreet luxury.

Food and Restaurants

Kinsterna’s cuisine is deeply connected to its land and history. The estate’s orchards, olive groves and vineyards supply much of what’s served, from cold pressed olive oil to wines and preserves. Sterna Restaurant, set beside the ancient cistern, offers elegant Mediterranean dining with creative interpretations of traditional Peloponnesian recipes. Mouries Tavern captures a more rustic spirit beneath mulberry trees, serving slow cooked dishes and grilled meats overlooking the countryside. Kinsterna Bar is a refined space for cocktails or house wines, and private dining can be arranged in hidden corners of the estate, lit by candlelight and scented by jasmine.
